Retired NYC ad man and artist Bill Hemp is the author of Bainbridge Island A to Z Sketch Book, published by the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art in conjunction with his exhibition by the same name in 2017.

Upon arriving to Bainbridge Island with his wife Maggie in 2011, Bill roamed "the Rock" with his sketch pad, reveling in old farm houses, thick forests, Winslow store fronts, and the flotilla of boats in Eagle Harbor. Between the nature, the busy community life, the history, and the unique icons, he filled several sketchbooks from front to back with pen and ink drawings. Those sketches turned into a book and exhibition celebrating local treasures of the island he called home up until his passing in 2018.
