Search the images in this book for a wonder of creativity and learn about the importance of feathers as symbols of our aspirations.

Using his ancestor's tools, mainly surgical scalpels, Chris Maynard carves meaning into feathers. Since birds can fly and we cannot, feathers have become symbols of this aspiration for all cultures around the world.

Feathers, themselves are perfect creations. Maynard adds interest, nuance, and content for us by carving them into images that we can relate to and find meaning in.

This book centers around Maynard's last ten years of art, created between 2015 and 2025. Instead of chapters, he writes snippets for each image, exploring the symbolism and myths associated with feathers, the values and thoughts that arise when observing birds, their flight, and their behavior.

This book is the first of four new books of Maynard's art: Meaning. The following books will be about Flight, Biology, and the last book will be about Art including his process for working this unique technique.
