5/100
This painting won an award after being juried into the Northwest Watercolor Society's 2020 Open International show which is online October 27, 2020 through January 1, 2021. NWWS.org. I'm so thrilled. It's a favorite!
I found this lively dancing dahlia at the famous Butchart Gardens near Victoria, BC. It's actually a white flower with curling cascading petals that I couldn't resist. The shadows of white are a great opportunity to explore colors instead of the simple gray that is seen in the photos bringing this flower to ever more life!
The painting is pure transparent watercolor on a full sheet of 140# Arches Cold Press paper. The image goes right through to the ragged deckle edges of the paper. This painting is floating on an archival backing without a mat to show the lively edges of the paper. It's framed with a white metal contemporary frame and plexiglass.
My paintings are professionally photographed making prints almost identical to the original painting.
