Print: Giclee on Fine Art Paper
"I've been focusing on painting white flowers to explore all the colors that I can reveal in the shadows. Generally the shadows and deep centers have the darkest darks in a realistic flower painting but this lily has such dark anthers at the ends of the stamens that are protruding into the foreground to attract the bees and our focus. It can feel like a visual switcheroo!
This painting is pure transparent watercolor on a full sheet of 300# Arches Cold Press paper showing the deckle edge of the paper. It is mounted on archival foam core to reveal the deckle edges of the paper and framed with a contemporary white metal frame and plexiglass.
The art is professionally photographed which will make reproductions impossible to discern from the original painting other than the deckle edge of the painting which is part of the original art."
About the Artist:
For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them.
The art is professionally photographed which will make reproductions impossible to discern from the original painting other than the deckle edge of the painting which is part of the original art.
