The sensuality of the cluster of blooms in this azalea from my garden was amplified when I focused in on the individual flowers and the space between into a warm inviting space. I learned to paint water drops working on this painting which if find on lots of my flowers from the dew or morning sprinklers. This original painting was juried into the Northwest Watercolor Society open exhibition and has since been sold.
For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them.
